Stillness

  Being still is not something that people like to do most days. We are always striving for something more, always running on a constant hamster wheel never satisfied with where we are. You see someone you know that is more successful than you and instantly feel the need to be doing more. You automatically feel unsuccessful because you are comparing your successes to someone else’s.  It is so hard sometimes to see other people succeeding and going places in life when you feel like you are just sitting still. Looking at someone else’s version of their happiness is not going to get you to your happiness. If you are constantly living through peoples highlight reels on Instagram or Facebook and think that’s how their life always is, your life will never be good enough. If I cannot have all the things in life that I want right now, why does it seem like they can? What makes them more successful than you? Prayer

  I just finished reading Fervent by Priscilla Shirer, and if this book does not invigorate change in the way you pray after you are done, you need to read it again. This book challenged me to think about the way I pray at times. There were places in this book that made me cry and realize that I am human and it’s ok I’m normal. I am so grateful for the amount of encouragement this book gave to me. Prayer has always been a hard thing for me; I always feel like I am not doing it right or saying the right thing. I used to look at people that said I can hear God or I felt Him and roll my eyes because I honestly felt like it wasn’t a real thing. I can now without a doubt say that those people are right and He does speak to us you just have to be ready and willing to listen to Him. “Prayer is how we isolate the real problems.
