Where The Weeds Grow

“Some seed fell on the foot path and the birds ate it, other seeds fell on shallow soil with underlying rock and sprang up quickly, but it soon wilted beneath the hot sun and died because the root had no nourishment in the soil. Other seed fell among thorns that shot up and choked out the tender blades so that it produced no grain. Still other seed fell on fertile soil and produced a crop thirty, sixty and even hundred times are much.” Mark4:4-8 NLT

The seed can be put out in the same field and have different results, but why? The seed cannot be planted if your heart is hard and so closed off from God it cannot even fight its way in. Your ears are being filled with our enemies lies instead of letting the truth in. Where God is trying to work in you, Satan is trying ten times harder. You can be in your walk with God and be connected to Him, but the roots are not deep enough for it to take hold and flourish. We can be in a place where we receive the word and we know the right path, but we let the things of this earth consume us and we become so wrapped up in pleasing the people of this earth that the seed has lost its luster.

“Every habit in your life started with something in your heart.”

Steven Furtick

What you allow to be planted in your heart is how you will live your life. You want to live with revenge, hatred, selfishness, unforgiveness in your heart, the only one you are really hurting is yourself. Our enemy is no fool and he knows where to get you and keep you down, because when you are in the midst of something hard it is so much easier to blame others than choosing to grow. If you got into the habit of choosing joy instead of anger, how would your perspective change? If you changed your habit from serving yourself to serving others, how much do you think your heart would grow? Instead of holding on to the wrongs committed against, grant them forgiveness; by doing this you are opening the door to your heart to let Him begin planting the seed you need.

“The Kingdom of Heaven is like a farmer who planted a good seed in his field. But that night as everyone slept, his enemy came and planted weeds among the wheat. When the crop began to grow and produce grain, the weeds also grew. The farmer’s servants came and told him, Sir, the field where you planted that good see is full of weeds!”

Matthew 13:24-27 NLT

“He replied, No, you will hurt the wheat if you do. Let both grow together until the harvest. Then I will tell the harvesters to sort out the weeds and burn them and to put the wheat in the barn.”

Matthew 13:29-30 NLT

You see even when He is able to plant the seed and it takes root in your heart it doesn’t mean that the enemy stops working for your soul. Even in the moments of goodness the weeds will always be present. As your faith grows so do the trials. The people who are against you become louder. The enemy tries harder to find the one open wound and cut it so deep that it bleeds all over the goodness He has done.

“The presence of the weeds will not cancel the power of the wheat.”

Steven Furtick

His word, His love will always prevail against the enemy. I know there are times where it feels like the enemy is relentless because he doesn’t want you to really understand the goodness and love of our God. Our creator’s love is too good to be true, but it is true and His love is really that good, so stop running and let Him embrace you. No matter how long you are among the weeds, don’t let your soil become so hard that the seed cannot find its way in. Don’t let the weeds diminish the wheat.
